February 11,2020 ( Juba) The Transitional Government and the Revolutionary Front have agreed to hand over the wanted people to the International Criminal Court.
The suspect will be extradite to the Hague based court to be tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity that they committed in Darfur.
The agreement to hand over suspects to ICC was a precondition for some armed struggle movements to start negotiation with the transitional government.
The wanted, are the ousted Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, Abdul -Rahim Mohamed Hussein, and Ahmed Haroun, in addition to the tribal militia leader in Darfur, Ali Kushayib.
For his part, spokesman for the government negotiating delegation, Mohamed Hassan Al-Taishi, said that the negotiation session on Darfur track between the Sudanese government and armed movements, which was held in Juba today, focused on the issues of justice, reconciliation and land.
“We have agreed to bring the suspects before the International Criminal Court to be tried on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against innocent people in Darfur” Noted Al-Taishi.
According to Al-Taishi,the two parties also agreed, to establish a special court for Darfur crimes.
“The final agreement on the paper of justice will be after the joint committee end formulating the issue of Darfur court, and reformulating the paragraph related to the national judiciary, so that the two parties will move to discuss the Hawakir paper” added Al-Taishi.
Al-Taishi stressed that there are three points in the Hawakir paper that were not agreed upon, but he expected to reach agreement on them when the negotiation sessions resumes this evening.
