February 9, 2020 (Khartoum) Forces for Freedom and Change have announced that the quota of bread flour has been increased to 100 thousand sacks per day as of Sunday, stressing that the country’s actual need for flour amounts to 80 thousand bags per day.
Meanwhile, FFC revealed that the Ministry of Trade and Industry had received 73,000 sacks of flour from Companies to solve the current bread crisis.
FFC pointed out that flour mills production during the previous period, specifically last Thursday – amounted to 53 thousand sacks , indicating that the country’s actual need for flour reaches 80 thousand bags per day.
According to the statementn the Ministry of Finance paid some arrears to the grain companies, noting that companies were committed to work in full capacity to covers the country’s daily need.
However, FFC revealed that the past period had witnessed a dispute between the Ministry of Finance and bakery owners against the background of the monitoring imposed on bakeries by resistance committees.
The observation which was conducted in close coordination with the Ministry of Finance resulted in a great scarcity of flour in the capital Khartoum, and a number of states in Sudan.
