February 8, 2020 (Khartoum) Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk and his accompanying delegation arrived in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa , Saturday to participate in the 33 African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government Summit, which is scheduled to begin on 9 February.
The 2020 AU summit is held under the theme, “Silencing the Guns: Creating Conducive Conditions for Africa’s Development.”
During the Heads of State Summit, they will discuss the peace and security in the continent , especially the situation in Libya, the exacerbation of conflicts in South Sudan and Central Africa, as well as the growing threat of terrorism facing the Sahel countries.
The continental bloc hopes to deliberate reports on completion of reform pertaining to AU institutions and the African Free Trade Organization, besides election of 10 new members of Peace and Security Council.
