February 2, 2020 (Khartoum) -During his meeting with the Head of South Sudan Mediation Team and Security Affairs Adviser to the President of the State of South Sudan, Tut Qalwak, Saturday, in his office , Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk affirmed the transitional government’s commitment to support the ongoing peace negotiations in Juba, until it leads to a comprehensive peace in the country.
For his part, Qalwak said in press statements that he provided enlightenment to the Prime Minister, on the progress of the negotiation process and the positive steps achieved among the various negotiating parties.
The Security Affairs Adviser, affirmed that many challenges facing the peace process had been transcended , promising that peace negotiations had come a long way in various tracks.
“The government and people of South Sudan are keen to achieve stability in Sudan and reach a comprehensive and sustainable peace, the stability of Sudan represents stability for southern Sudan” Noted Qalwak.
Next Tuesday February 4, 2020, negotiations between the Sudanese transitional government and the armed struggle forces in Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile will resume, after the South Sudanese mediation on peace in Sudan announced its suspension in late January, with a view to further consultation on the negotiating tracks.
It’s to be noted that the negotiations, which resumed in mid-January, focus on five tracks- Darfur region, Southern Kordofan states, Blue Nile, Eastern Sudan as well as North and Central Sudan.
