January31, 2020 (Nyala) – Rapid Support Forces in South Darfur State, have celebrated graduation of a new batch of former combatants who recently joined its forces.
Speaking at the passing out ceremony, RSF Commander, Major-General Issam Fadil, said the training of 800 RSF new affiliates lasted eight months, but he did not mention the names of the platoons to which these forces belong.
For his part, the governor of South Darfur State, Hashim Khalid Mahmoud, during his speech, he renewed the government’s Cease fire commitment to enable the government and armed struggle movements reach lasting peace.
“This force will be an addition to the regular forces to provide stability in the states of South and Central Darfur. Thanks to December revolution for enabling our country to stop war forever” Noted the governor of South Darfur.
The chairman of Darfur Peace Committee, Nazir Yusuf Mohamed, said that ex-combatants who have joined the Rapid Support Forces, will pave conducive environment for peace negotiations currently taking place in Juba, South Sudan.
