January 28, 2020 (Elfashir) – The government of North Darfur State on Tuesday decided to close its land border with Libya, to curb the illegal border crossing of vehicles coming from Libya.
The decision to close the borders with Libya is based on the directives of a meeting held earlier in September between the transitional sovereign council and the governments of South Darfur State in Nyala.
North Darfur state governor, General , Malik Al-Tayeb Khojali said in press statements that his government decided to close the border with the State of Libya starting Tuesday, January 28 , due to the security and economic risks facing the state.
Malik Al-Tayeb also announced the formation of joint forces comprised of Rapid support Force , the army and the police to enforce the border closing directives.
Meanwhile, the army general, issued strict instructions to confiscate all vehicles and trucks loaded with cars trying to enter the border alongside the Libyan cranes used in loading and unloading cars.
Nowadays, North Darfur residents are suffering from dire living conditions , soaring prices as well as scarcity of bread and fuel.
