The Sudanese government and SPLM-N led by Malik Agar signed a framework agreement on Friday, pertaining to South Kordofan and the Blue Nile .
The deal which was signed at the presidential palace in the capital of South Sudan, Juba, included principles of security arrangements, land ownership , the right to legislate in the two areas, as well as power and wealth sharing.
The head of government negotiating delegation, Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemeti” signed for the Government of Sudan, while Chief of Staff ,Lieutenant-General Ahmad Al-Omda Badi inked for SPLM-N Agar.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of President Salva Kiir Mayardit, the South Sudanese Mediation Team alongside observers of the Sudanese peace process, and representatives of the diplomatic missions accredited to the Republic of South Sudan.
In a speech delivered at the ceremony, Hemeti said that the conclusion of the framework agreement confirms the determination of the parties and the strength of their partnership for peace.
In his speech, the SPLM-N Agar Deputy Leader Yasir Arman reiterated the Movement’s commitment to sign a comprehensive peace agreement before February 14th together with the other SRF factions.
President of the Republic of South Sudan said the leadership of the two countries are seeking to silence the gun, end the suffering caused by wars and open doors to economic cooperation between Khartoum and Juba for the two nations’ benefit.
