Saudi Arabia has lifted a hundred-day temporary ban imposed on the import of all types of live animals from Sudan.

The ministry said the decision to lift the ban came after studying and evaluating the epidemiological health status of the disease in Sudan.

The Saudi Ministry of Agriculture affirmed that a meeting was held with the Sudanese side to adopt the implementation of requirements on all live animals exported from Sudan to the Kingdom.

The ministry emphasised implementation of all veterinary health requirements, to ensure that animal imports from all countries of the world are free of epidemics, so as   to reduce the risks of disease transmission to the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stated that the decision to suspend livestock imports from Khartoum mid-October came after the World Health Organization announced the emergence of RVF cases in Sudan.
