On Sunday, January 5, 2020, two sisters, named, Susan and Malak, were torture by five of their family members to death. The brutal incident was perpetrated by the girls’ father , alongside the girls’ brothers, as well as two of girls’ relatives in Wadaa, North Darfur State.
Relatives of the two dead girls said the girls were buried without any criminal procedures or medical examination of their bodies.
A relative of the two girls who spoke to Darfur 24 and wanted his identity to be anonymous, said the two sisters, Susan and Malak, and their cousin , named, Nama, were severely beaten by four of their brothers, to identify the owner of a smartphone found in the girls’ possession.
Meanwhile, when the brothers failed to obtain confession from their sisters, the two girls were transferred to their father’s accommodation. However the father started torturing, beating , pouring cold water on them as well as strangling the girls until they finally they passed away.
One of the deceased girls’ relative named, (THB) told Darfur 24 that police had arrested the four defendants and put them behind bars in a cell in Wadaa area, while family elders intervened to distance the father of the two deceased girls from the charges of torture and murder.
“Next of kin who have come from Khartoum for this purpose alongside other family members, are putting enormous pressure on the girls’ mother and their maternal aunt, in order to grant all perpetrators impunity , including the father,.” The man added
“They want to change the case to a family affair, so as to distance it from the (legal track), in an attempt to release the arrested suspects from the police custody”. The man further added.
