The Deputy Chairman of Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Muhammad Hamdan Hemeti, and Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk, upon their arrival in Al-Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State, engaged in a closed meeting with the state government and the leaders of the security services.
Darfur 24 reporter said the delegation will be meetings with the leaders of Masalit and Arab tribes separately at the Headquarters of the armed forces.
The visit was scheduled for Tuesday, but it was postponed due to the intensity of the fighting in the city of El Geneina between Arabs and Masalit tribes.
The inter-communal clashes erupted Monday, resulting in the killing of dozens from both sides and burning of 3 IDP camps as well as forcing some residents to flee to neighboring Chad.
Meanwhile, the fighting shifted to the villages adjacent to Al-Geneina, where two villages of Gokar and Hashaba (birthplace of the former governor of west Darfur, Haider Qalukma, 20kms, south of Al-Geneina, were set on fire .
Witnesses reported to Darfur 24 that the Governor of West Darfur yesterday survived an assassination attempt during his visit to the wounded in the military hospital, and that a person carrying explosive device attempted to detonate it near the governor while the guards managed to arrest him before the bombing. Meanwhile, they stated that the governor was subjected to abuse from the angry relatives of wounded and dead people Inside the hospital.
However, the delegation included Minister of Justice Nasreddine Abdel-Bari, the Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Adel Bashayer, the Director General of Intelligence Service, Lieutenant-General Abu Bakr Demblab and the Attorney General.
