موجة نزوح من كردفان إلى دارفور

Al-Daein, October 08 (Darfur24)

Families fleeing intensified fighting in North Kordofan State are arriving in East Darfur amid shortages of food, shelter and other necessities.

Eyewitnesses told Darfur24 that dozens of trucks and vehicles carrying families from Al-Mazroub, Hamra Al-Sheikh, Al-Nahoud and Al-Khuwai are heading toward Al-Daein and Nyala.

More than 20 families from Al-Mazroub arrived in Al-Daein on Tuesday after fighting intensified between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied forces.

The families are sheltering at the city’s land port, where they are sleeping in the open because of shortages of tents, food and sanitation facilities.

Abdul Rahman Ahmed, one of the displaced, said most of the arrivals were women and children facing hunger. He said one woman suffered bleeding and a child developed health complications that he attributed to malnutrition and the long journey.

The displaced appealed to the East Darfur government and humanitarian organizations for food, shelter and other assistance.

Salem Ali, another displaced person, said families fled Al-Mazroub amid fears of retaliatory attacks and after reports of civilians being killed and property looted.

Eyewitnesses said some families had taken shelter in schools, government buildings and markets, while others continued westward toward Darfur.

The latest displacement follows recent army advances in North and West Kordofan, where fighting has intensified between the army and RSF.

The movement marks a reversal of the displacement pattern seen earlier in the war, when hundreds of thousands fled Darfur toward Kordofan and the Northern State. Some are now returning toward Darfur as insecurity and fears of reprisals increase in Kordofan.
