The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are deploying major military reinforcements to North Kordofan as they reorganise their forces following recent battlefield setbacks in the region, informed sources told Darfur24.
The sources said RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, has cancelled several meetings and public engagements in recent weeks to focus on military operations along the North Kordofan front in an effort to regain the initiative.
According to the sources, Hemedti expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of several commanders operating in the Bara and Jabra al-Sheikh areas and introduced new command arrangements that remove them from direct oversight of operations in those sectors.
The sources said the RSF has dispatched reinforcements from Darfur and the desert axis to North Kordofan. They added that the “Dar Hamar Emergency” platform reported on Sunday that more than 200 RSF combat vehicles passed through Al-Mazroub heading east.
The RSF has also begun regrouping fighters who withdrew from Umm Sayala, Bara, and Jabra al-Sheikh, while assembling reserve units and additional forces arriving from the desert axis as part of preparations for operations in North Kordofan, the sources said.
In a related development, the sources said Hemedti voiced frustration during a meeting of the Security and Defence Council of the Transitional Peace Government over what he viewed as compliance with international calls to avoid attacking certain cities and adhere to an undeclared truce.
The sources added that officers and commanders who had been in Nyala on administrative assignments or leave were ordered to return immediately to their units and rejoin frontline positions.
According to the sources, Hemedti also instructed commanders not to redeploy forces from other fronts without prior approval, while prioritising reinforcements for the North Kordofan axis.
A security source told Darfur24 that no decision has yet been taken to launch attacks on the targeted cities, saying any ground operation would depend on the completion of ongoing drone missions.
