El Obeid, July 02 (Darfur24)

A child was killed and several civilians, including his mother, were injured in artillery shelling that struck residential areas of Dilling in South Kordofan State on Wednesday evening, according to eyewitnesses.

The attack has been blamed on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N).

Witnesses told Darfur24 that Musa Abdul Rahman Al-Sawar was killed in the shelling, while his mother, Amina Mohamed Al-Haj, and several other civilians were wounded when shells hit Al-Nasr neighborhood and the University District inside Dilling University at around 6:00 p.m.

According to the witnesses, the shelling originated from the eastern side of the city. The injured were taken to Dilling Hospital for treatment.

A video circulating on social media, verified by Darfur24, showed damage to a house in the Dilling University compound following the attack.

The shelling comes amid worsening security and humanitarian conditions in Dilling, where repeated artillery bombardments and drone strikes have struck civilian areas in recent weeks, causing civilian casualties and damage to homes and infrastructure.

Darfur24 could not independently verify responsibility for the attack, and there was no immediate response from the RSF or the SPLM-N to the allegations.
