Al-Junaynah, April 09 (Darfur24)

More than 12 civilians, including five members of one family, were killed and several others injured on Wednesday evening when a drone strike targeted a social gathering in Kutum town, North Darfur State.

Sources told Darfur24 that the strike hit a wedding gathering in the Al-Salama neighborhood, near Um Banat School, causing significant casualties among attendees and damage to nearby homes.

A medical source said the town’s only rural hospital was unable to receive the wounded due to the continued presence of drones flying overhead, complicating rescue efforts and delaying treatment for the injured.

Residents described the attack as sudden and violent, noting that the drones continued to hover over the area for hours after the strike, making it difficult to retrieve bodies from under the rubble and transport the wounded.

The bombing caused panic among civilians and extensive material damage in the surrounding residential area.

The incident comes amid escalating military operations across Darfur, where drone strikes and clashes have increasingly impacted civilian areas, including residential neighborhoods and public gatherings.
