Nyala, February 09 (Darfur24)
Rapid Support Forces intelligence detained three fuel traders in Nyala, South Darfur State, after disputes inside the city’s fuel market last week, according to local sources.
Sources told Darfur24 that disagreements arose between RSF intelligence personnel and the traders, Ahmed Bakheet, Mohamed Zain Al-Abidin, and Al-Fadil Adam, before they were taken to an RSF detention facility in Nyala.
The sources added that the detainees are active in the fuel trade, noting that one of them heads a committee representing traders affected by the fuel market fire that occurred last December.
The market was struck by a drone attack late last year, causing large quantities of fuel and cash, estimated at 4 trillion pounds, to burn, in addition to losses involving empty barrels.
Following the incident, Nyala authorities decided to relocate the fuel market from its previous site.
