Merowe, January 05 (Darfur24)
The command of the 19th Infantry Division in Merowe, Northern State, announced on Monday that its ground defenses successfully repelled suicide drones targeting the area.
In a statement, the Division said the drones were aimed at its headquarters, Merowe Air Base, and the Merowe Dam, but no casualties or material damage were reported. The command attributed the attack to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and said all drones were shot down before reaching their targets.
The 19th Division emphasized its full readiness to respond to any security threats in Northern State and reaffirmed its commitment to defending the territory and protecting vital facilities.
This incident comes amid the escalating conflict in Sudan, which has increasingly involved drone strikes targeting both military and civilian infrastructure across areas controlled by the warring sides.
