Al-Daein, December 22 (Darfur24)
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have detained hundreds of civilians traveling from Darfur in the Umm Badr area of North Kordofan State, preventing families, patients, and students from reaching the city of Al-Dabba in Northern State, local sources said.
Salwa Mohamed Nour, one of those detained, told Darfur24 that she has been stranded for more than two weeks while traveling with her diabetic mother in search of medical treatment. She said RSF members demanded one million Sudanese pounds to allow passage, but travelers were detained again and had their phones confiscated.
She added that most detainees are patients and students, warning that deaths have been recorded among sick travelers due to prolonged detention and lack of care.
A driver from Al-Daein said three vehicles carrying about 30 passengers were forced to return, while around 55 vehicles remain held in the Umm Badr area. Travelers confirmed that dozens of vehicles were also detained in Al-Na’im and Al-Manjam.
An RSF leader in West Kordofan told Darfur24 that checkpoint forces had been instructed to restrict the movement of young people toward areas under army control.
