Port Sudan, November 20 (Darfur24)

The Sudanese army has released 42 members of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) who were detained in Port Sudan, following mediation led by Musa Hilal, head of the Revolutionary Awakening Council.

Security forces in Port Sudan arrested 47 RSF soldiers in the early days of the war, after they were found at their local headquarters when fighting erupted on April 15, 2023.

According to sources, five of the detainees were taken to trial, while the remaining 42 were freed after Hilal, who is aligned with the Sudanese army, intervened on their behalf. Most of those released are from the Darfur region.
