El Fasher, November 18 (Darfur24)

The number of people fleeing El Fasher in North Darfur State has climbed to 100,000, according to new figures released Monday by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), following the Rapid Support Forces’ capture of the city.

The RSF seized the headquarters of the 6th Infantry Division on October 26, ending nearly a year and a half of a suffocating siege on El Fasher, the Sudanese army’s last stronghold in the Darfur region.

In a statement obtained by Darfur24, the IOM said that “as of November 17, 100,537 people have been displaced from El Fasher and surrounding villages since October 26, 2025.”

The agency reported that people fleeing the fighting have dispersed across 23 localities in nine states, although the majority remain displaced within El Fasher locality itself.

The IOM warned that insecurity along major routes continues to threaten civilians on the move, noting that the situation across North Darfur remains highly volatile.
