Talodi, November 17 (Darfur24)

The General Intelligence Service in Talodi, South Kordofan State, has continued a wave of arrests targeting activists and public figures, deepening tensions and anxiety among residents amid escalating security measures in recent days.

Sources in Talodi told Darfur24 that intelligence officers transferred a group of detainees to the local police station on Sunday, after holding them inside the agency’s headquarters since their arrest on November 7.

According to the sources, the detainees were charged under Article 68 of the Sudanese Criminal Code, which relates to rioting, unlawful assembly, or acts deemed a threat to public security. Some detainees also face accusations of spying for the SPLM-North and the Rapid Support Forces, though authorities have not provided details on the nature of these allegations or any supporting evidence.

Those arrested include activists Jamal Hussein, Shawqi Al-Amin, Lt. Col. Issa Hammad, Tariq Abu-Fida, Mohamed Al-Mustafa Othman Khater, Issa Hammal, Khaled Omar, Prof. Qaja Sharaf Al-Din, and Ahmed Kaloul, in addition to others whose identities remain unconfirmed due to the strict information blackout imposed by security services.

Sources estimate that more than 30 individuals are currently detained, but the exact number remains unclear. Authorities have barred family members and lawyers from visiting, raising mounting concern over the detainees’ health, legal status, and conditions of confinement, especially in the absence of any official statements or transparency regarding the arrests.
