Khartoum, November 7 (Darfur24)

Six people were killed and 17 others injured on Wednesday when a truck overturned while traveling from the town of Soni in eastern Jebel Marra to Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State, according to eyewitnesses.

Ahmed Al-Zein, who witnessed the accident, told Darfur24 that the truck, which was carrying goods and passengers, overturned multiple times while navigating a narrow mountain road. He said the accident resulted in the immediate death of six people and the injury of 17 others, nine of whom are in critical condition and are receiving treatment at the health center in Jauja, Jebel Marra.

Al-Zein explained that the accident occurred at one of the most dangerous points along the route, where similar incidents have been recorded in the past due to the rugged terrain.

The areas of Soni and Jawa in Jebel Marra are considered key agricultural zones known for producing fruits and vegetables, which are transported to the Nyala markets—about 200 kilometers away—via rough, unpaved, and often slippery mountain roads.
