Khartoum, October 21 (Darfur24)
A military source told Darfur24 on Tuesday that three suicide drones targeted Khartoum International Airport early in the morning, though the extent of the damage remains unclear.
According to the source, one drone struck a Civil Defense site inside the airport, while two others hit one of the airport’s halls.
The attack occurred just hours after the Civil Aviation Authority announced plans to reopen Khartoum Airport and resume domestic flights on Wednesday.
The strike comes amid a sharp escalation in the ongoing “drone war” between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Over the past two days, army drones have carried out multiple strikes in Darfur, including in El Geneina, Kabkabiya, Al-Zarq, and Saraf Omra, resulting in civilian casualties.
Last week, RSF-operated suicide drones launched heavy attacks on the Sarkab and Khalid bin al-Walid military camps north of Omdurman, killing 24 soldiers and wounding more than 60, according to a military source who spoke to Darfur24.
