Umm Dafuq, September 23 (Darfur24)
Refugees in the Birao camp in the Central African Republic (CAR) fear that tribal violence between the Kara and Ta’aisha could spill into the camp, which hosts thousands of Sudanese displaced by war.
A refugee speaking to Darfur24 on condition of anonymity said that displaced families, particularly from Arab tribes, have received threats, prompting many to stop going to markets and remain inside the camp.
A community leader confirmed that UN forces have reinforced security around the camp and warned refugees to avoid movement until tensions subside.
The border region between Sudan and the Central African Republic has recently seen rising tensions, raising fears of renewed intercommunal clashes.
