The Sudan Foundation Alliance (TASIS), led by its Vice President Abdelaziz Adam Al-Hilu, met Friday with the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy to Sudan, Ramtane Lamamra, in Nairobi, Kenya.
In a statement seen by Darfur24, TASIS said the meeting was held at Lamamra’s request to discuss opportunities to end the war in Sudan and achieve a comprehensive and just peace. The discussions also covered the latest political developments and the worsening humanitarian crisis.
The TASIS delegation included Alliance member Al-Tahir Abu Bakr Hajar, Governor of Eastern Sudan Region Mabrouk Mubarak Salim, and Council member and South Kordofan–Nuba Mountains Governor Jagod Makwar Marada.
According to UN News, Lamamra is touring East Africa to intensify the UN’s push for de-escalation and a political settlement in Sudan. He is expected to meet key political stakeholders in Nairobi before heading to Port Sudan for talks with authorities and other Sudanese actors.
The envoy is holding a series of meetings with political and armed groups across the region as part of efforts to secure a ceasefire, open humanitarian corridors, and pave the way for a political process.
