Journalist and former director of Darfur Radio 90.3, Rashid Mohamed Haroun Jarad, was arrested in El Geneina, West Darfur, at the end of July and later transferred to Dagris Prison in South Darfur, sources confirmed.
Jarad’s relative told Darfur24 that he was arrested at the Ardaba market in El Geneina and initially held in a detention center without family access before his transfer.
The detained journalist also worked as a correspondent for several satellite media and in the media office of the RSF-affiliated civilian administration until mid-August 2024.
The circumstances surrounding his arrest remain unclear.
