Kazgil, July 9(Darfur 24)
On Tuesday evening, the Sudanese Armed Forces’ warplanes SAF launched several airstrikes on various locations in the Kazgil area, which had been controlled by the Rapid Support Forces( RSF) .
The airstrikes followed fierce clashes in the area between SAF and RSF , which ended with the latter regaining control of the area hours after losing it.
Reliable sources told Darfur 24 that the Kazgil area has witnessed a mass displacement of local residents in recent days, who fled towards El Obeid and neighboring villages in search of safe shelter away from the air and ground operations.
They added that “civilians in the area have been subjected to widespread violations as a result of the ongoing military operations, which has exacerbated their suffering amidst dire humanitarian conditions.” They pointed to the continued displacement and deterioration of the humanitarian situation.
Dozens of displaced people in El Obeid are living in harsh conditions, lacking the most basic necessities of life, such as water, food, shelter, and healthcare.
