Dabaibat, June 3(Darfur 24)

Thousands of residents of the town of Dabaibat and surrounding villages in the Al-Qoz locality of South Kordofan were displaced following clashes that erupted between the army, the Rapid Support Forces, and their affiliated groups late last week.

The Dabaibat and Al-Hammadi areas in South Kordofan, Al-Khawi in West Kordofan, and neighboring areas have witnessed an escalation in clashes since the beginning of last May.

Displaced person Ahmed Adel told Darfur 24 that many of those displaced from Dabaibat were forced to walk long distances towards the city of El Obeid, North Kordofan, despite the ruggedness of the road and the dangers of movement due to the lack of security.

He explained that the road leading to El Obeid saw the separation of several families and the loss of many children from their families during the arduous displacement journey, amidst a state of panic.

He stated that some of the fleeing people were able to reach the Triangle area, a strategic crossing point between South Kordofan and North Kordofan.

He reported that an unknown number of displaced people who fled Dabaibat are heading towards various destinations, including Al-Hamadi, Kazigil, Umm Shalakhti, Sushay, Al-Ibnwiya, Karkaria, Al-Furqan, Hillat Al-Mahdi, Umm Darasaya, and Umm Arada, in addition to other villages, amid harsh conditions.

The International Organization for Migration reported that 1,821 families were displaced from the town of Dabaibat on May 29. 2025, due to the ongoing armed clashes and their expansion into civilian areas.

She stated that most of these families were forced to flee to safer locations within Al-Qouz locality, while others headed to Abu Zabad and Al-Salam localities in neighboring West Kordofan State.
