The Sudanese Relief and Humanitarian Operations Agency in West Darfur stated that the humanitarian situation has reached a complete collapse due to the arrival of thousands of families fleeing from other states to West Darfur.

The agency’s director, Daw El-Beit Adam Yaqoub, indicated that the number of displaced persons has exceeded 20,000 families, and that the level of service provision to them does not exceed 5%.

He added that the humanitarian situation has reached a complete collapse, calling on foreign organizations and United Nations agencies to fully play their role in providing assistance to the displaced.

During the distribution of humanitarian aid at one of the shelters, Yaqoub affirmed the Sudanese agency’s commitment to facilitating all procedures so that partners can provide necessary services.

For his part, the head of the Civil Administration in West Darfur State, Tijani El-Tahir Karshom, welcomed the displaced persons in West Darfur, saying that they had been targeted by warplanes and drones based on racism and regionalism. He added, “These are characteristics that do not resemble the Sudanese people.”

He stressed the need to expedite the provision of aid to the displaced, adding, “If urgent intervention does not occur, a humanitarian disaster will occur, the signs of which are already evident in the Ministry of Health report, which revealed widespread malnutrition among children, along with the spread of other diseases.” In the same vein, a representative of the displaced said, “We were targeted by drones, artillery shells, slaughter, and murder.” He noted that they spent 21 days on their way from Khartoum to El Geneina.
