El Fasher, April 11(Darfur 24)

The Sudan Founding Alliance (Tassis) announced on Friday that more than 8,500 households have been evacuated from El Fasher, North Darfur, to safer areas.

The evacuation process continues at an accelerated pace, with delegations still arriving at reception and shelter areas.

The Sudan Founding Alliance said in a statement seen by Darfur 24 that it is continuing its humanitarian efforts to evacuate civilians from El Fasher and neighboring camps in North Darfur State, given the critical security and humanitarian conditions in the region.

It noted that the Founding Alliance forces, which include the Rapid Support Forces, the Sudan Liberation Movement-Transitional Council, and the Sudan Liberation Forces Gathering, have managed to evacuate more than 8,500 families to safer areas over the past six days.

It stated that the families were evacuated to Tawila, Korma, and several neighboring villages.

It added, “Basic needs have been provided to the displaced, including drinking water and food, as part of ongoing efforts to protect civilians and alleviate their suffering.”

The alliance reiterated its full commitment to its national and humanitarian responsibilities towards the people and called on all concerned parties to support these efforts and join forces to protect civilians and keep them away from military operations.
