At least 20 people were killed and more than 10 others, including children, were injured on Thursday as RSF continued its artillery shelling on Abu Shouk camp for displaced persons (IDPs)and adjacent homes in the western sector of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.

Abu Shouk camp, which houses approximately 190,000 displaced people IDPs, has been experiencing famine since last December, and it is expected to continue until next May. The famine is also affecting five other areas, including Zamzam camp, 12 km southwest of El Fasher.

Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that RSF renewed their artillery shelling of the Abu Shouk camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and adjacent homes in the western sector of El Fasher on Thursday morning, killing and wounding dozens of civilians.

Ibrahim Yahya, an eyewitness from the Abu Shouk camp market, told Darfur 24 that the RSF fired several shells at the camp market, killing approximately 20 people instantly and wounding more than 10 others.

Daoud Zakaria, a resident of Abu Shouk neighborhood, told Darfur 24 that the death toll from the artillery shelling on the Abu Shouk camp exceeded dozens, noting that there were wounded who had not yet been treated.

Sources within the Medical Corps confirmed to Darfur 24 that the hospital received dozens of injured as a result of the RSF shelling of the Abu Shouk camp and other parts of El Fasher on Thursday.
