On Monday, Rapid Support Forces (RSF) forces arrested Dr. Khaled Abu Hala, the acting Secretary of Academic Affairs at El Daein University, in East Darfur, and took him to an unknown location, according to a family source.
This comes weeks after the university administration in Port Sudan sacked 13 professors, including the deputy director, accusing them of operating the university in areas controlled by the RSF.
A relative of Dr. Khaled, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Darfur 24 that Abu Hala was arrested by RSF intelligence from his home and taken to an unknown location without providing any reasons for his arrest.
Last week, the director of El Daein University, who resides in the Arab Republic of Egypt, issued a decree dismissing firing 13 university professors and employees.
